I was recently given a Philips series 1 tivo that has no hdd. It was given to a buddy who didn't want it, so he gave it to me. I believe it's an HDR112. Oh yea, it has a turbonet card installed.

My question is, how would I go about getting this to work? I know that I need a hard drive and I've gathered that I would probally need to get an image of the OS for the drive and since I have no idea what happened to the orginal drive, I'm outta luck. All the tutorials that I have read so far describes how to back-up your old drive before installing the new. If I do have to download an image, what version would I look for and how would I go about getting it?

I'm really a noob with tivo but am very technically minded so any help would be great!

A couple of places to try:

The image begging thread in this forum. Search the thread for the model number and see if anything pops up. This is a long shot, but it's quick

The eD2k network. Get the eMule client at www.emule-project.net and do a Slobal Server search for the model number.

Rumor has it that someone at TiVoCommunityForums can supply images. A little searching may help.

If you are REALLY desparate, PTVupgrade has images for most systems available for a fee.
