View Full Version : TyTool DVD, chain play and menu button

I'm using TyTool 10r3 with DVDAuthor from TyTool 9r18.
I use IFOEdit to improve CC settings.
I'm happy with everything for the most part, but...
I want chain play for the titles,
and I'd like the menu button to work in addition to the title button.

I've read some of the messages here, something is confusing me, how do I do this?
Anyone have better info, or maybe I'm reading the wrong messages.

Thanks

There are some notes here: http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32807

There were some challenges with making sequential play work properly with older version of TyTool. Josh was going to change how DVDAuthor is used but, given his hard drive crash and loss of development code, maybe those changes haven't happened yet.

PGCEdit will let you specify what is associated with the various types of menus (title, root, audio, etc.) so you'll probably have to create a new entry in your IFO set which is just a jump to the existing menu and assign it to the menu button function.

I get confused not sure why, but I don't get this at all.
Could someone make the info easier?

Are you getting confused by the terms? If so, there's not really much that can be done to make it easier to understand. You'd need to know some basics of how DVD structure works and the terms are integral to understanding. IIWY, I'd look at some of the tutorials on the PGCEdit site and just mess around on a backup set of IFO files. There's not really a shortcut, you'd need to gain a basic understanding of how the tools work and what you're looking at as they interpret the data. You don't need to know everything, just enough to make a few changes. Play around for a while and you'll get the hang of it.

FWIW, I always open the TyTool-created IFO sets with PGCEdit and let it correct the header data. You'll notice it complains about some stuff and offers to fix the navigational info. It can't hurt and might even help on some players.

When the DVD is first put in I'd like the menu to come up.
When you pick a title I want it to play and goto the next.
When the last title is done playing I'd like it to go back to the main menu.

I know I have a lot to learn about IFO files,
but I believe I can get away with just understanding
where to add and do I clone or use a dummy PGC?

These entries are all ready there...

VMGM, LU 1 (en), 1 (dummy) TitleM
pre
1 LinkPGCN PGC 2

VMGM,LU 1 (en), 2 (0:00) ?b.
post
1 if ( gprm(0) == 0 ) then { Goto line 8 }
2 if ( gprm(0) == 0 ) then { Goto line 9 }
3 if ( gprm(0) == 0 ) then { Goto line 10 }
4 if ( gprm(0) == 0 ) then { Goto line 11 }
5 if ( gprm(0) == 0 ) then { Goto line 12 }
6 if ( gprm(0) == 0 ) then { Goto line 13 }
7 LinkPGCN PGC 2
8 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 1
9 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 2
10 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 3
11 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 4
12 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 5
13 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 6

but I changed them...
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 1 (dummy) TitleM
pre
1 (JumpTT) Jummp to Title 2

VMGM, LU 1 (en), 2 (0:00) ?b.
pre
1 (JumpTT) Jummp to Title 3

and I added
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 3 (dummy)
pre
1 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 4

VMGM, LU 1 (en), 4 (dummy)
pre
1 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 5

VMGM, LU 1 (en), 5 (dummy)
pre
1 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 6

VMGM, LU 1 (en), 6 (dummy)
pre
1 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 1
(I know this needs changed to the Menu some how)

The result was it skipped the Menu all together...
On the XBOX it just played the first title over and over again
on another DVD player it played everything one after another like I wanted but it had no menu at all.

Should I left these alone
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 1 (dummy) TitleM
VMGM,LU 1 (en), 2 (0:00) ?b.

And added the others? And what do I do to make it go back to the menu?
Or should I add pre commands to the two that were there, and added the others?

Also on the VTST 1 - 6 should it be changed to return to cell 1?

Yeah I get this error on each title on everything I open the first time...
PgcEdit: Open DVD
WARNING:
The number of VOB IDs stored in the VTS_C_ADT table of VTS 1 (10)
don't match the real number of VOB IDs in the table (1).

(This is a known bug of DVDShrink in reauthor mode)

The table will be fixed with the correct number of VOB ISs (1).
Please save the DVD!

Thanks:)

I understand what you want to do. I've never done it, myself. There is more than one way to chain the PGCs. I seem to recall one of them was ignored by the TyTool-created IFOs.

This is one of the reasons I said you should play with it. I'm not sure how to make it work but those tools will let you do it, the challenge is finding which chaining method will work.

Having said that, this is something Josh said was upcoming and maybe it would be a wise use of time for you to ask him for details/release timing. Why spend a lot of time on this if it's part of a release in a week or so?

Ok I got the DVD to play the title and goto the next title!
on the last title it goes back to the menu
here's how I did it
If someone finds this useful you can add it to your how to
as long as where I ripped off the info from doesn't care
http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=181907#post181907
I tried to make it easier to understand

One note some DVD Players you can skip chapters and title all the way though
Others when you hit the last chapter in the title it won't skip
but it will fast forward though and play though

With PgcEdit 0.6.2 I Open DVD

you'll get one of the below errors for each title
just click ok for each...
(in this example 6)

WARNING:
The number of VOB IDs stored in the VTS_C_ADT table of VTS (1) (9)
don't match the real number of VOS ISs in the table (1).

(This is a known bug of DVDShrink in reauthor mode)

The table will be fixed with the correct number of VOB ISs (1).
Please save the DVD!

On mine this windows comes up
Find BOVs
just Close it

You'll have something like...
VMG , First-Play PGC
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 1 (dummy) TitleM
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 2 (0:00) ?B.

VTST 1, 1 TTN 1 (41:31) Title 1

VTST 2, 1 TTN 1 (41:12) Title 2

VTST 3, 1 TTN 1 (40:25) Title 3

VTST 4, 1 TTN 1 (41:19) Title 4

VTST 5, 1 TTN 1 (40:31) Title 5

VTST 6, 1 TTN 1 (46:25) Title 6

Now right click on
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 1 (dummy) TitleM
Pick New dummy PGC, a windows comes up yes
do this for each title file

the result since I have 6 titles would be 8
VMG , First-Play PGC
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 1 (dummy) TitleM
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 2 (0:00) ?B.
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 3 (dummy)
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 4 (dummy)
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 5 (dummy)
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 6 (dummy)
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 7 (dummy)
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 8 (dummy)

Click on
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 2 (0:00) ?B.
on the right hand side you'll see
1 .. 7 (leave alone)
8 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 1
9 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 2
10 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 3
11 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 4
12 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 5
13 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 6
Double click on 8 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 1
Pick Alphabetically CallCSS-VGM-pgc
Call the VMGM 3 (1-999) from a title.
next one pick 4 and so on

the results look like (the itmes you added above)
8 (CallSS) Call the VMGM PGC 3
9 (CallSS) Call the VMGM PGC 4
10 (CallSS) Call the VMGM PGC 5
11 (CallSS) Call the VMGM PGC 6
12 (CallSS) Call the VMGM PGC 7
13 (CallSS) Call the VMGM PGC 8

Now click on the first on
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 3 (dummy) Pre 1 NOP
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 4 (dummy) Pre 1 NOP
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 5 (dummy) Pre 1 NOP
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 6 (dummy) Pre 1 NOP
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 7 (dummy) Pre 1 NOP
VMGM, LU 1 (en), 8 (dummy) Pre 1 NOP
on the right had side
double click on 1 NOP (in the pre commands)
Pick Alphabetically Jump TT
JUmpt to the entry PGC of title 1 (1-99).
pick 2 next and so on
the result is
(anthing that says pre or post is on the right hand side)

VTST 3, 1 TTN 1 (40:25) Title 3 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
VTST 4, 1 TTN 1 (41:19) Title 4 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
VTST 5, 1 TTN 1 (40:31) Title 5 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
VTST 6, 1 TTN 1 (46:25) Title 6 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
double click on Calls the VMGM PGC 1, change to 4
also return to 1
next 5, 6, 7, 8, last one VTST 6 leave alone
minus also return to 1, so it'll still go back to the menu

this is the results...

All right
Stop User Operation Not Premitted
Happens in WinDVD 7, hitting play makes it work anyways.
I don't understand since normally my hardware DVD Players have a problem
not my software DVD Players. First time I ever had it happen this way.
Anyone know how to fix this so WinDVD doesn't though a fit
I believe PowerDVD does the same thing.

Ok, not sure if I did something wrong or the DVD Spec way
isn't really in DVD Specs, this way plays on all my Players
that play TyTool DVDs, hasn't caused any issues.
I have 10 working DVD players, and none have an issue
Also WinDVD 6, 7, and the newest PowerDVD play fine

Did TyTool 10r3 with DVDAuthor from 9r18
made DVD as normal

I edited the CC
http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=244734#post244734

Then in PgcEdit
Open DVD
say ok to each error

This is want you'll see
VTST 1, 1 TTN 1 (41:31) Title 1 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
VTST 2, 1 TTN 1 (41:12) Title 2 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
VTST 3, 1 TTN 1 (40:25) Title 3 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
VTST 4, 1 TTN 1 (41:19) Title 4 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
VTST 5, 1 TTN 1 (40:31) Title 5 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
VTST 6, 1 TTN 1 (42:00) Title 6 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
double click on the Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)
Pick Alphabetically Jump TT

change to
VTST 1, 1 TTN 1 (41:31) Title 1 Post 1 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 2
VTST 2, 1 TTN 1 (41:12) Title 2 Post 1 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 3
VTST 3, 1 TTN 1 (40:25) Title 3 Post 1 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 4
VTST 4, 1 TTN 1 (41:19) Title 4 Post 1 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 5
VTST 5, 1 TTN 1 (40:31) Title 5 Post 1 (JumpTT) Jump to Title 6
VTST 6, 1 TTN 1 (42:00) Title 6 Post 1 (Calls the VMGM PGC 1)

One note some DVD Players you can skip chapters and title all the way though
Others when you hit the last chapter in the title it won't skip
but it will fast forward though and play though

Now to make the menu button work:)

Right click on
VTSM 1, 1 TTN 1 (41:31) Title1
pick new menu, say yes

pick the newly created
VTSM 1, LU 1 (en), 1 (dummy) RootM
on the right head side double click 1 (JumpSS) Jump to First Play PGC
pick Alphabetically, CallSS-VMGM-menu, click ok
now it should change to 1 (JumpSS) Jump to VMGM Title menu

do this to each title entry
now the menu button with goto the root menu, which goes to the title menu

edited to fix a couple errors, and to add the menu button working
