So I have been trying to get files of of my TIVO and am at the point where I want the throw myself out the window as I just can't get the MFS_FTP to work and the TIVO is way too cool to chuck. ANYWAY...... the problem I am experiencing is that I can't connect to 192.168.10.104:3105 using an FTP client, only IE and even when I connect using IE I can only grab .ASX .BAT .TMF and .TXT files the good stuff namely .TY, .TY+ and XML are off limits to my network, and this is only using IE. I have tried SmartFTP, WS_FTp, and FileZilla and none will connect to 192.168.10.104:3105. I can connect to 192.168.10.104 just fine but port 3105 doesn't like me at all.

This is the Log that I get trying to use Filezilla.

Command: LIST
Response: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list.

Anythoughts on what the issue could be? I've been working at this for Days!!!!

Thanks very much for your help.

Turn off PASV mode in your ftp client and try again.

How many shows do you have? You might need a longer timeout period if you have a long NP list. What does the log file say on the TiVo?

I have set the the timeout detection to the max possible 999 seconds, passive file transfer, and Binary and that didn't work. As for the log file how should I access that?

Thanks

cd /var/mfs_ftp
tail -f port.3105.log
(assumes you have tail installed)

Anyway, the port.3105.log file is located in the same directory as mfs_ftp.

I don't have a port3105.log and I thought by using tail it would create one but it did not. tail functionality does work as I am able to tail the mfs_ftp.log in this directory with no problems.
Ideas???

Are you starting mfs_ftp on a different port?

Does ps show mfs_ftp is even running?

I don't guess there's any chance this is a firewall issue?

Better pump up the debug level (dbl) to get more info on why it's failing.

It looks like you may be opening up more than 1 connection to the Tivo. I know CuteFTP does this to try and speed things up. I had to force it to 1 connection only. ... just an idea..

actrak

fixed it so that it only used one connection and still no good. Eastwind what do you mean by bump up the DBL?

Thanks for your help guys.

Check the readme file in the mfs_ftp tarball. It's a setting to determine how much debugging information gets sent to the log file.

if it was me i would , first try connecting with flashfxp, to see if that works...
if not i would start from scratch....

delete the first mfs_ftp.tcl install....rm -R /var/mfs_ftp
reboot
get the files s2bins.tar and mfs_ftp.tar again
http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2339
http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2339
unzip them down to the .tar files
ftp both over to the tivo in /var
tar -xvf s2bins.tar
tar -xvf mfs_ftp.tar
cd over to mfs_ftp
start it up and see if that works.....
if not try the support thread http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21915, its a good read...

Careful which s2bins you get. The versions here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29459) have the "priority set" issue.

Use these (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39487). Follow the instructions for using them with an unpatched mfs_ftp.

Do I want the bins with the priority set issue? According to

http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29459

I am looking for binaries that fix the priority set issue. But the link to the binaries is broken
replace /var/mfs_ftp/mfs_stream with the one bcc posted to fix the priority set issue

Thanks

am trying to untar the 2 files and am getting the following error messages

" tar -xvf s2bins.tar

mfs_ftp
mfs_ftp/mfs_stdinsert
tar: Invalid tar header checksum

tar -xvf mfs_ftp.tar

mfs_ftp
mfs_ftp/fifo
mfs_ftp/scramble_utils
mfs_ftp/scramble_utils/get_DC_key.tcl
tar: Invalid tar magic"

what does this mean??
and how can I get around it?

Thanks for your help

Your other errors look like a corrupt tar archive. Did you transfer it in binary mode?
