I'm having a hard time getting a pc to boot with any of the Linux boot disks. I know I have a good disk cause I can get it to boot on a machine at work. At home here I have a decent Dell Dimension, I set the Bios up to boot from the CD but it just seems to bypass the CD Drive. I tried removing the hard disks completely but no luck. I'm ready to try 25Extreme as soon as I can get this thing booted.
Any Ideas.
It seems I saw something about booting with a couple of floppy disks. If so could I do anything with the 25Xtreme image after I was booted?

Go here ===> http://www.newreleasesvideo.com/hinsdale-how-to/ to learn how to restore a mfstool backup.

Then see this post about how to get the backup file ===> http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=10540#post10540

I've read the Hinsdale How To:. It's written for someone that Can Boot to a CD.
I cant.
I have the 25Extreme although I think I'll wait with all the problems being reported.

Still looking to boot a CD though.

I couldn't get my old Dell Optiplex PentiumPro to allow the boot from the CD either, even after flashing with the latest BIOS.
I did complete the whole process (the old fashioned way, not with v2.5Xtreme) with only boot diskette. Go back to the Hinsdale How To and look at section 4 If you do not have CD-RW Burner: and it explains how to use a boot diskette. Then just use the mfstool backup as surgeon explained in the other thread I mentioned. You might want to wait because most ppl are having problems with v2.5Xtreme on the reboot of the TiVo (see the THE LINK -- THE SEQUEL! (And this one really works!!! thread)
