Sorry, but I have to take issue with this one...

Q4: The most cost-effective way to acquire an initial, full underlying Windows Desktop license is preinstalled.
Answer: False - only if you're in the market for a new computer from a vendor. And don't have a site license already. And if you're not building from your own preferred parts. Buying a whole new machine is certainly more expensive than just the OS for your existing hardware.

Of course, I doubt I'll get my USB drive with the correct answer.

Well...note that they say "acquire an initial, full underlying Windows Desktop license." So initial meaning "no previous version installed," full meaning "no upgrades." In that case...pre-installed is generally cheapest. Unless you build your own, almost all PCs now come with Windows in one form or another anyway.

And if you are building your own, many parts vendors will sell you an OEM copy if you buy enough parts for the order to be considered a PC. (Can't remember whether it's just a motherboard, or motherboard/case/cpu, or what.)

Of course, it's even cheaper to download the latest Ubunto or Gentoo or Debian ISOs. :)

Ha. Larger demand than supply for something free. No kidding.
