View Full Version : How can I tell what unscramble method I'm using?

I've been searching these forums for about 2 hours now and can't find a clean answer to the question.

I've got a sleepered TCD24004A and I ran cyphercheck.tcl on it and got "No" to encrypted and "No" to CSO Set. I checked /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit.author and found the kmem line commented out.

OK, now what? I'm not using the kmem hack to unencrypt but I do know that I'm storing them unencrypted because I've used tytools in the past to extract video to my PC.

Again, the goal here is to get current on my SA Series 2 unit (at least more than my 4.0.1b current SW version).

OK, figured out that I'm using the noscramble2 patch and found /etc/tpm/noscramble2-1.0-6.S2.uninstall which I have also read that this will remove the noscramble2 patch.

Question is, what will happen to my recordings after I remove this patch? Will my recordings now be encrypted? Will I lose the ability to play my existing, nonencrypted recordings?

I'm labelling this as "Step 1" in my list of steps to unsleeper my unit so I can properly upgrade to the killhdinitrd kernel.

For the answer, read the first few posts in Alphawolf's thread on the NoSCO patch. That link is in the other thread of yours.

By the way, it is usually better is you keep all questions related to a particular project in a single thread.
