Hey everyone, new to the forums, but I've done quite a bit of lurking.

I have a quick question. I recieved a Hueghs SD DVR-40 from one of my dad's employees, as she upgraded over to a HD DVR unit and gave the DVR-40 to my dad, who gave it to me. Now, I was trying to get this unit working with my subscription but it looks like the reciever is married to the old card that is no longer valid. When I put in a valid subscription card, all I get is a "insert a valid subscription card."

I tried going through the menus and erasing the old card, but it doesnt seem to want to work.

Anyone got any ideas?

You have to call DTV to move receivers/cards/subscriptions.

Just found that out..I just moved my R10 over to the DVR-40.

I have the left over card from the previous owners subscription. They wouldnt activate it. Is there anything I can do to get them to activate it?

I think I read somewhere that they might if you say you got the unit from a close family member (like a brother's fiance or a cousin?). Might've been in the forums if you want to look into it further before calling.

Just keep calling until you get somebody that will activate it. They definitely can do it.
