I think my SAT 2 coax port may be fried on my HR10-250 DirecTV DVR. I get the message it is unable to get a signal in SAT 2. I swapped cables and got the same results. However, I noticed something strange when I was swapping. The television was on the signal strength settings screen. I first disconnected SAT 1 and then I noticed that there was a signal in SAT 2 on the screen, and, of course, no signal on SAT 1 (as I had just disconnected it). After swapping the cables, the original problem occurred, i.e., SAT 1- good strength, SAT 2 no signal. I checked both ports with a meter and got around 18V for SAT 1 and less than 1V for SAT2.
I checked with weakness about repair, but they want a flat fee of $249. I just replaced the power supply and added an additional hard drive with the DVRUpgrade kit, so I'm really leaning toward buying a new system instead of paying at least another $249 unless someone can help me out on diagnosing the problem.

Try tuning in different transponders on all three sats. If the problem is related to an LNB you'll see a drop in signal strength. Try tuning in the same channels on both tuners and see if you still have the same problem. If you have a multiswitch try connecting the HDTivo directly to the LNBs and bypass the multiswitch altogether. Start with a barebones setup and gradually add components into the configuration one at a time.
