Hi everyone,

My cousin just helped me hack my HR 10-250 HD receiver and I am using TyTools to extact the files from my TiVo. Standard definition looks awesome out of the unit, but I am having difficulty extracting HD files. I used the same procedure I did for standard, but is there something I should be doing different. When I burned a DVD in HD it came out scrambled: pieces from the bottom were on the top and middle were on bottom. Does anyone have a solution to this? My cousin said he thinks its the aspect ratio, but he does not have an HD receiver and has not attempted this before. Does anyone have a fix for this? Any input is appreciated.: )

HDTivo files are higher resolution and non-DVD compliant by default. Standard definition DTivo files are 480X480 resolution which is the same as SVCDs. This is why you can burn DVDs with standard def files and not HD files. Virtually all current DVD players recognize SVCD formats and will play them back just fine.

There are threads in the extraction forum that discuss this topic and can easily be found by scrolling through the various threads on the first or second page of the forum. Burning HD files to DVD will require transcoding of the video to a lower resolution format so your DVD player will recognize them. Standard DVD resolution is either 720 X 480 or 352 X 480. The audio should be fine as is so no transcoding is required.
