http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/TiVo/ This is the place to get a Tivo File Converter. It turns any media files on your pc into usable tivo files that can be sent to tivo so you may record them. gl.

Nanvue is much better, it allows you to download shows from your tivo in almost any format. You can also convert & upload videos from your pc to your tivo, Nanvue does the conversion and uploading. It can also monitor folders for new video files and as soon as a video file is detected it will start converting and upload the file to your tivo.

It can be downloaded from the TivoZA website. http://tivoza.nanfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=423

Does this also work with DirecTiVo?

I'm getting "socket error # 10053 software caused connection to abort." when I try to upload something.

that reeks of a firewall issue - it's a network socket error

I'm making progress (I think) now I have "error # 10054 Connection reset by peer."

Does it retain the captioning when finally ends up mpg format?

I'll tell you what it DOES do - it inserts videos with expiration dates the are PRIOR to the recording date, (e.g. recorded in 2007 but expires in 1999) and this will eventually drive your TiVo insane and cause it to reboot constantly (after maybe 5 minutes of uptime)

The fix:

(as of yet untested by me but I assume it will work)

YMMV
