I just finished baking my phillips 7000 directivo with 6.2 and the ptvnet disk.

Everything works fine but it wants me to make an initiall call or it wont record anything.

If I connect it once ( i dont have a phone) will the problem go away? I read about fakecall but I dont know a thing about telnet, that is why I bought the easy to run disks.

Any other solutions for me? Please help. I had 3.1 before and loved it, it did everything I wanted it to without a phone I ran all the scripts myself but was a bit too tedious.

I suggest you ask PTVnet for assistance; they sold you the software and deserve the oppoortunity to support it. If that is too difficult, try TiVoCommunity Forums. They do hand holding.

Alternatively, take the receiver to a friend that has a land line and make the call. You WILL get nags after two weeks, but simply delete the messages.

Or if you REALLY want something simple, call DirecTV. There have been reports that level two support can send a command to your receiver bypassing the need for an initial call. You might still get the nags.

Finally success!!

1st problem I noticed lots had was the PTVNET disk goes first, then it will ask you for the instacake.

Second problem was the ISO I burned. It probably burned too fast and messed it up. I used ISO RECORDER and burned at 2x speed. Placed cdrom as Primary Slave and HD as Secondary Master.

The whole thing took 20 minutes, it was easy. Because of the damn cd with the bad ISO, I spent about 8 hours of meddling around and research.

Thanks
