Ok.. I wanted to try something on my DSR6000. Recently since the 3.5 update came down my DSR6K was hosed. It kept rebooting right when it turned on. Turn on/Welcome Powering Up/Reboot. over and over again.

I had a spare drive so I loaded it with a new InstantCake image, updated the software to 3.5, rebooted, reloaded the cachecard drivers.

Now, the tivo will power up, go through the cachecard verifying and writing and then it green screened.

Could this be because of the LBA48 kernel? I don't need the updated kernel as I have a 120GB drive in there and don't plan on going bigger.

Is there a way to remove the newer kernel and put back in the old non-LBA48 kernel?

Does anyone have another suggestion?

Thanks

Josh

Ok.. Lou from PTVUpgrade has told me that with the upgrade to 3.5 that the old kernel is not being used anymore.

Would this cause the Green Screen? I would just like to get my tivo up and going again without the green screen.

Did you leave the DTivo sitting on the green screen or did you unplug it when it appeared? The reason I ask is because I'm used to seeing the GSOD quite frequently on my old S1 DTivos but they always fixed themselves in short order. Be patient and give the DTivo a chance to correct whatever errors caused the GSOD and you should be up and running in a short time.

I unplugged it.. Go figure.. Figured something was broke on it. I've never once had a Green Screen before so It kind of alarmed me.

Thanks

Ok.. here is what I did to get my system working.

I put in the InstantCake cd and did a restore of the image on the CD manually

/mfstools-2.0/mfstool restore -x -p -s 300 -zi /cdrom/.images/000001 /dev/hdc

I then rebooted, dialed in over the internet and updated the box to 3.5.

Rebooted again, loaded the new cache card drivers from 2/2005 and rebooted.

All seems to be working again, I can telnet in and FTP. I just need to reinstall the hacks.

Should have just done this first and not relied on someone elses program to fix it up for me.

Thanks

Josh
