I have searched the forums and the internet at large for hours and can't find the answer to a simple question.

How do I enable wireless networking in a prom modded R10?

I have a prom modded R10 which is running 6.1 with replace_initrd.

I don't think that rc.sysinit calls rc.sysinit.author. I have two networked SA Tivos using Tivonet and Turbonet cards which have VERY different rc.sysinits. It looks like Tivo now calls everything from script directories.

I have a Tivo compatible Netgear WG111 adapter.

Do I use the Gen04 backport drivers?

How do I set-up WEP?

Does anyone have a sample rc.sysinit.author for usb and and a Netgear WG111?

Obviously I will buy a FA120 if that is what is required. I have a ethernet wire at the Tivo from the old SA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have all the aswers you're looking for, but you can grep rc.sysinit.author */*from /etc/rc.d and see if rc.sysinit.author is being called from any of the scripts (or you can just read them all :) ).

I appreciate your help.

I had put it back together after socketing the prom, so I didn't have it available to grep the directories. I was hoping that someone who had been through it knew the answer.

I wanted to have everything planned out before I pull the drive again.

I ended up getting a USB200M V2 at Radio Shack for $26.

I used the backport drivers, updated /etc/hotplug/usb.map and everything worked.

BTW, the startup scripts did everything. They called rc.sysinit.author and loaded the usb modules.
