View Full Version : TIVO without a phoneline? DirecTV,Hughes-SD-DVR40,Sleeper1.01,3.1.1c

I moved to a new location that doesn't have a phonw line and pulled my Series2 DirecTV TIVO out of the box it has been in for over a year.

It has sleeper 1.01 on it (that I installed back in 2004) and 3.1.1c kernel.

I called up DirecTV and started my service again and the box is working and I'm getting channels :) but without the phone line it complains that:

"PLEASE ACTIVATE YOUR DVR SERVICE" call 1-800-......

and the TIVO functionality doesn't work :(

I currently don't have the USB-ethernet cable plugged in because I need to get a longer CAT5 cable. I wonder if it's going to be able to contact TIVO via the ethernet or is that just on newer kernels?

Am I going to be able to have TIVO working without a PHONE LINE?

Thanks for any reply!

(DirecTV,Hughes-SD-DVR40,Sleeper1.01,3.1.1c kernel)

Call DTV and make sure they have the DVR service activated on your account. You should also request that they refresh the signal to your receivers and you should be OK.

Thanks!

Yes, that worked, TIVO is working without a phone line.

I assumed that the first guy I talked to at DirecTV had activated everything necessary, but it required another call to DirecTV for them to activate DVR.

It works now.

THanks!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
