I could be paranoid and certainly am inept (more gently: out of practice) at tivo hacking, but...

Both of my hacked DTivos became permanently stuck at "Welcome. Powering Up." approximately 72 hours after being hacked. One rebooted and stuck while I was playing with TivoWeb. The other died the next day, as I was testing satellite strength (getting some pixelation). Both have perfectly functioning hard drives (tested with low-level tools from drive mfrs). Neither has drives > 137GB.

I had pulled the drives after 3.5 was installed to install TurboNet (50th time), then hacked tivoapp and rebooted several times for various reasons thereafter.

I haven't checked the logs yet, but will. I reseated the cables on both several times, to no avail. I'm not sure how, precisely, to clean the pins as people recommend in an effective way that does not leave behind residue...

I have 3 Dtivos on the same circuit, and 1 is still alive (never hacked or opened), hence a power spike or sap is unlikely to be the cause.

Can anyone here offer thoughts on why and guidance on how to pick up the pieces and get these to work again?

Many thanks,

Start by seeing what's going on during the boot cycle. Do this by pulling the drives and looking at the kernel log. Even better--watch it with a serial cable.
