View Full Version : Installing TurboNet Drivers In S1 TIVO??

I have FTP and TELNET access to my son's TIVO. But it won't make it's Daily Call. After reading, the best solution is to re-install the drivers.
Is there a way to install the TurboNet drivers without taking the drive out of the TIVO??
Thanx
EDIT: Further SEARCHing and reading seems to indicate it's a simple matter of FTPing the nic_install file over to the TIVO and running it. When I do, I get a "cannot execute binary file" error. Does that indicate I have the wrong version of installer??

Make sure the file is executable - "chmod 755 nic_install"

Yea, it's 777 across the board..
The DealDatabase SEARCH function is down, but I found some interesting info on 9thTee...
According to 9th Tee, S1 3.0 supports the TurboNet without any extra drivers..
So, I have to wonder if the failure to make a daily/test call is not a driver issue at all.
The wierd thing is, I can PING my TIVO from my Gateway and I can ping the NET from my Gateway, but I can't seem to PING/Connect from my TIVO to the NET..
I vaguely recall having this problem in the past (I suffer from CRS) but I can't seem to locate any info about it.

Is is set for dhcp or manually set ip address? Did you try to use an ip scanner to scan the subnet range and see if anything's up? And of course, try a different ethernet cable.

I am a moron..
Turns out my home DSL has a diff Gateway than my son's Cable...
Edited the RC.NET file with the proper Gateway and everything was just fine.
Thanx for the input, Scan....
