Hi,
I bought a turbonet and I just can't seem to get it working. I have a few question.

1. Do I need to install any kind of software if I have svr2000 tivo software version 3? I read that I should at least be able to make daily calls without installing anything. But my router indicates its not connected.

2. How can I tell if it's a software problem and not a hardware problem with the turbonet itself. When I connect the turbonet to my router the lights blink constantly (people say it's how it should be) but my router does not indicate that there is a connection (no light on the router). What could cause this?

3. I've tried installing the turbonet drivers using the install cd. I've also manually configured the ip address of the tivo (yes, it's within the range of my local network) and confirm that it's set though serial bash prompt. still I can't ping the tivo, Have I missed anything?

Any hellp would be much appreciated. I'm hoping that this is a software problem because the guy I got this card from is not responding to my emails.

I assume you ran the nic_install script. How are you getting your IP address? DHCP or static? Check the rc.net file which sets these parameters. Make sure you don't set ip addresses in rc.sysinit.author. Also, try a known good ethernet cable.

Oh, and to set it up for the daily call over the internet, I believe you have to set ",#401" (w/out quotes) as the dialing prefix in the phone options.

I set a static ip using the nic_install script. I assume it setting it in the right place because after running the script I used a serial bash prompt and ran ifconfig and all the settings were there. I also ran a command like this to set the ip manually "ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.104 netmask 255.255.255.0 up".

I've tried three different cables which were originally working while connected to either a laptop or desktop but I still couldn't ping the tivo. Is there any diagnostic script that I can run to find out if there's anything wrong with the turbonet. I already have a backup image of my tivo so I'm not afraid to mess around with the tivo files. I really hope that it's a software problem because I can't get a hold of the guy who sold it to me.

here's what I get when i run ifconfig
