external dvd for 360

does anyone know if you can flash an external dvd drive an use the usb cables to connect it to the 360 to play burnt games instead of actually opening the system to flash the built in drive? im very curious of this as i do not want to open the system:confused:

Can you use the xbox connectivity kit to do all that without opening the xbox 360's case?

AFAIK, all there is right now are DVD firmware hacks as far as directly hacking the Xbox360 system, and connecting the HDD to a PC, although I don't think there are any exploits yet.
