My hard drive on my main tivo just died. My old configuration was one drive with 80 gb and an original drive with 30 gb installed for 127 hrs basic. A few years ago when one of the original 30 gb died. To repair the situation I used dd to copy the data from the failing drive. I then used mfstools to enlarge the images to take up both the 30 gb and the 80 gb drive. I wanted to do something similar and had some questions.

1. Should I use dd or dd_rescue. dd worked in past I just had to get past gsod. Or should I use another method such as mfsbackup. I want to keep my shows though.

2. My new replacement drive will be 250gb western digital. I know I need to do the lba change over. Should I do it after I do the dd or before?

3. I currently am using an airnet and am going to upgrade to turbo cache. My plan would to get the drives working and then switch out the turbo card or can I do it before I finish installing the new drives.
