View Full Version : alternate ways to program Tivo Suggestions?

About a year ago, I recorded and watched Buena Vista Social Club. This turned out to be a bad mistake because ever since then, my DirecTivo has been convinced that I speak Spanish and has helpfully filled my hard disk with Spanish News, Spanish Sports, Spanish Soaps, Spanish documentaries, Spanish HBO -- you name it and I have it -- in Spanish.

I don't speak Spanish.

No amount of thumbs down-ing will make it stop. As I said, I've been giving everything three thumbs down for a year now. So is there another way into the suggestions system, a way to disable Spanish or at least to make it ignore Spanish channels? I tried removing them from my personal channel list but to no avail. Apparently, Spanish language programming has such a high priority that it will seek out channels no matter what.

When you said they were removed from your personal channel list did you mean this?

Messages & Setup- My Preferences - Customize Channels - Channels You Recieve - uncheck the spanish channels

No. Messages and Setup -> Settings ->Channels ->Favorite Channels.

Ordinarily, it doesn't record stuff off of channels that have been deselected. But apparently foreign language programming must have a very high priority.

How do you feel about removing it from "Channels I Receive" ? Or "Clear & Delete Thumb Ratings and Suggestions" ? (This might make it forget to record Spanish language programming, but you would need to put in your "real" thumb Ratings again...)

I'll try deleting the channels. Rather start over on the thumbs thing. Thanks!
