View Full Version : Why is 6.3a smaller?
It's been hinted that the main reason 6.3a is being pushed is to add support for the additional local satellites that was left out of 6.3.
Yet, looking in MFS with TiVoWebPlus (which I finally installed the other day), 6.3a is actually smaller than 6.3. The "Size" for 6.3a is listed as 772, while the size for 6.3 is 796.
Fluke? Or did they take something out?

They removed all the bugs. The code is now lighter. :D

The MFS size for my 6.3a is 796. Any difference is probably just related to packaging and where it lands in your MFS.
The only files that changed were:
- /tvbin/tivoapp: 6.3 and 6.3a version are the same size
- vmlinux.px: 6.3a kernel is 28 bytes smaller
- /etc/build-version: 6.3a version is 14 bytes larger

Thanks. I would have thought that if the 72.5 and similar satellites were a problem that dssapp would have changed, too. Odd.
