View Full Version : I messed up my TiVo's Network settings using TIVoWEBPlus

I messed up the Network settings on my TiVo using TIVoWEBPlus' "NetConfig" option. Changed the Network Type to "wireless" and forgot to put in the SSID! Now the question is.. how can I change back to wired? Trouble is I can't get back to telnet in thru my wired network. I was thinking of making a serial cable and then using BASH.. but what do I change?? and where?

If I could get in thru my wireless net that would enable me to fix it I hope. Or... maybe I can change the SSID. Can you set the SSID or the WEP security key? Is there a special sequence to use on the remote?

I have both wireless and wired adapters: a Linksys WUSB11 and a Netgear (wired) FA120.. I'd ba happy if I could connect wityh either. Being able to switch between the two would be a nice plus.

Thanks for your attention.

If you can get in with the serial cable it is simple. Simply run network.tcl at the bash prompt with the following syntax:

tivosh network.tcl "IPaddress" "Gateway" "yes"(if_wireless) "SSID"

Obvisouly omit the quotes. Also drop the yes and SSID if you are not wanting wireless.

Good luck.
