Hey Guys! ive been reading and reading these forums but cannot really find any info about this tivo TCD649080. I am thinking about getting one, but unsure what can be done with it. I have a series2hdvr2 tivo, but seeing as how there are no more sites avail for canadians to order direct tv, its useless to me ... So this is the next best thing for a tivo diehard fan to do ! :rolleyes:

The TCD5xxxxx and TCD6xxxxx cannot be hacked without a PROM mod.

is there instructions for this? or is there a place where i can either get it done or just buy one predone?

Check the For Sale forum to find people that will do the mod. For DIY, search the forum; there are threads that discuss this.

well ive looked and so far cannot find any diy guides , pictures , hacks/mods, or anything on this model :(

The TCD649 is otherwise known as the dual-tuner standalone, and is mostly considered an S2.5 type unit. There was recently some information for hacking the TCD649 PROM (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50973).

You still need to socket the PROM for hacks, like any of the other TiVo units on the market today.
