I put 300GB HDD in my Tivo and created swap and var partition each 511MB.

Do I need that big swap partition?
Is it ok to keep it that big that I have already created it?
If it is not a good idea to keep this big swap space then what is the right way to reduce it without loosing my existing recordings. (I know the remaining space after swap partition resize may be left out) if there could be any improvement if at all.
