Gents,

First of all I am very new to the world of hacked DVRs. I just hacked a Phillips DSR7000 with OS 6.2 and followed the Weethet instructions to install tserver on the unit. All went well until I try to connect the tserver in the TyTool application. The IP address is correct according to Look@LAN and the bash prompt is: "bash-2.02" When I start the tserver in Tytool I get the following error:

Trancode Selected Mode: 0
Ready...
Reading list from the server...
Clear Now Showing List...
Connecting to '192.168.1.04'
ERROR: Failed to Connect!

The TServer Output Window also shows:

Telneting to the TIVO...
Connecting to '192.168.1.04'
ERROR: Failed to Connect!

Help!!

Well, I think the error is pretty evident: It can't connect to port 23 on the Tivo (the telnet port).

There are a few possible common problems to check.
1. Are you telnetted in with another program (effectively blocking other connections to port 23)?

2. Does the TyTool connection preferences (for starting the server) match your tivo prompt exactly?

3. Is tserver in your PATH (on the tivo)?

4. Is tserver actually on the tivo (and for the correct model)?

5. Is Windows XP Firewall on? Is it blocking TyTool (likely).

Probably others as well...

The "Start tserver' menu option actually just telnets into the tivo, looks for the bash prompt, and starts up the tserver progam.

Many of us simply start tserver manually on the Tivo.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the help. I fat-fingered the IP address in TyTool. All is well in HackedTivo land for me.

Thanks,
