S2 different images for differnt models?

Has tivo merged the images for SA S2 together? Such as will the same image work for a sdh400 and a tcd2400? (I know they used to be denoted by a three digit letter sequence, but I haven't seen that for a while.)

Yes.

Under 7.x, there were -tak, -elm, and -oth variations; and with 8.x those have all been merged.

This raises a question of my own (though perhaps a question for the S3 support forum), but has anyone who has looked at the S3 code (tivoapp in particular) determined how close 8.1x (S2) and 8.1.1 (S3) are?
