I had a working networked system 2 hughes box and then Directv pushed down 6.2a. I can no longer use Tytools to extract files to my PC. Is there some where in this forum that tells exactly what has to be done to fix this? I'm guessing that I will have to connect using a serial cable, don't know? I have looked around for what has to be done but all I see is try this and do that in multiple, actually lots of threads instead of one thread that tells step by step. HELP!!!!!
It appears to me that your TiVo was hacked incorrectly and didn't prevent the automatic software upgrade. I suspect you'll have to re-hack your TiVo.

It's been a while since I've done anything with my DTV Tivos.
I've got several of the DVR40 types running 6.2 software with
the super patch applied.
Besides the DST fix in 6.2a is there anything else in there that
I need? I've change my timezone on the satellite setup to correct
the time issues I saw yesterday.
I've seen posts about 6.3.... do those work on the older
DVR40 type DTV Tivos... and do I want that software?
Is there a 'state of the DVR40' tivo thread someplace?
Thanks - jack

If you aren't talking about 6.2 "C" as in charlie... You don't have the DST fix, you have a buggy version that will make you VERY unhappy if it is running on an HR10-250 unit. On my HR10, after about 3-5 weeks of operation, the tivo corrupts the card and destroys it, then starts saying "insert access card" if you simply get a replacement card and don't do anything about it. Get the upgrade to 6.3C quick!
I'm currently waiting on another replacement card, and this time I'm cleaning off my tivo and upping it to 6.3c either by a complete re-image or slices if I can get them.

6.2a has some fix for a new guide format that D* use and that caused problems on many DTivo in the past months. The upgrade is easy enough that I do not see any reason not to update.
6.3 is for the HD DTivo, not for the DVR40.

There is no 6.2c. You're confusing 6.2a and 6.3c.

...thanks... so..... not to ask too stupid of a question... I originally upgraded
all of my DTV DVR40 Tivos using the small image image and then I grew the
MFS file system.
I should be able to find the 6.2a slices and upgrade my tivo without wiping
out my MFS ( recorded shows ) correct? I just see if the 6.2a slices are
already there... or find them... then run the tcl install script that updates
your tivo with new slices... the MFS isn't affected... right?
Thanks... been a while since I did all of this... things are a but rusty....

So if someone out there figures out exactly what has to be done, please post the necessary steps to get 6.2a back to a point where the network capability is working again. I sure would hate to dump a new image back to it.

What has to be done is you will have to pull your drive and rehack it correctly this time so it will not upgrade without your permission.
