Hi, all. Been a while since I've posted here...mostly because life is what it is, and my hacked DirecTivo has been humming along without issue for well over a year now.
Quick background:
RCA DVR40 DirecTivo
120GB single HDD
SW version 6.2a01-2-321
Superpatched - Running FTP, Telnet, TivoWebPlus
Backported USB drivers driving Netgear MA101 (USB1.1 -> 802.11b)
Static IP assigned
A couple weeks ago, we had a power outage in our house, and when the unit came back up, I noticed the 30-second skip button no longer works. Its behavior has reverted to that of an unhacked box, jumping to the end of the recording.
I tried to telnet into the box and got no response. However, pinging the IP gets a response. Running nmap against the Tivo from my Linux machine shows all ports filtered.
I broke out the old serial cable, but it's been a while since I've done anything this way. Anyone have any first step ideas as to where to start looking for a cause?
I was pretty sure I installed hacked kernels on both sets of drive partitions, so that even if the bootloader got switched, it would still bring up a hacked OS.
EDIT:
OK, so on reboot, I can see the system messages filtering across my serial connection. However, I don't seem to have bash access. My link appears to be read-only. I don't see my keystrokes being echoed on the screen, and basic commands like "ls" or "pwd" don't produce any output. My terminal settings are 115200,N,8,1,No flow control.
I'm at a bit of a loss...am I going to have to open up the box and yank the drive?
