I've been searching and come up empty handed. I'm looking for a DirecTv TiVo that can handle the new MPEG-4 sats. Anyone heard of one in the making or maybe one that does exist? I truly like the TiVo interface much better than the Hughes IRD that DirecTv sells/leases.

Thanks,
Joe

Unfortunately, not. Sorry

And you're unlikely to ever see one. While DirecTV and TiVo may have worked out continued TiVo support for 3 more years, that doesn't mandate new boxes. Most likely any new boxes will be their own DVR. :(

Just one of the reasons I'm considering leaving DirecTV.

DirecTV no longer offers Tivo models. They do, however, have their own HD-DVR that is compatible with the mpeg4 sats (the HR20-700). It's not a Tivo but many people seem to like it. DirecTV has been diligently working the bugs out of it with numerous software updates. I was tempted to get one for myself but I wasn't ready to add another 2-year commitment to my subscription. Instead I decided to drop DTV and got with Verizon FIOS, a S3 Tivo, and a HTPC with four ATSC tuners. This sucker's like a Tivo on steroids!
