View Full Version : Is there any way to get YAC and HME apps running together under 6.3c?

I've got an HR10-250 running 6.3c, patched with the HME tivoapp patches (amongst others). I've long been using YAC with my SD DirecTivos, and I love it's simplicity and reliability, but I realized a while back that YAC interferes with HME applications, and I currently can't live without MovieLoader on the HR10-250. I have two SD DirecTivos and the HR10-250, none of which have a phone line hooked up, so I'd like to run the caller ID server from my Windows PC.

I took a look at NCID, but it seems it doesn't run the server natively under Windows, and I'm not sure about the Cygwin version, since I don't see much info about it. I tried running the ncidd.exe, but it didn't seem to do much of anything. I don't have a full Cygwin installation, so I'm sure that's the problem. Basically, I like the YAC server interface a whole lot better than having to hodgepodge together something that will run NCID server on my PC. Any ideas?

Nothing, huh?

Has anybody ever experimented with trying to get a YAC server to send caller ID info to NCID clients? Is it even remotely possible?

For the sake of someone who find this thread by searching, YAC2NCID gateway is now part of NCID 0.68.1 and on (along with much less interesting NCID2YAC gateway if you want to use YAC clients with NCID server)

And it works beautifully. Thanks again for doing this.
