Make a new folder, preferably one that's easy to type (like C:\kernel), and then place these files in there:
315.px (from 315kernel.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/?7jqjtujujjz))
md5sums.exe (I've included it in 315kernel.zip. Hopefully the author (http://www.pc-tools.net/win32/freeware/console/) won't mind.)
killhdinitrd.exe (from killhdinitrd-0.9.3.zip (http://dealdatabase.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=5945&d=1165952770), the .exe is inside the mingw folder)
1) Open a Command Prompt and cd to the folder where you put those files.
2) Check the MD5 of your 3.1.5 kernel with:
md5sums 315.px

3) Run killhdinitrd:
killhdinitrd 315.px

4) Now check that MD5 of your 3.1.5 killhdinitrd kernel is f878a7900faf8edcc8345ba43710aaef.
