I have an unhacked Toshiba RX-TS20. It's S2 Tivo with a DVD writer and needs a PROM for hacking.

It seems that right after I reboot, I can see the tivo web interface (not tivoweb but the little tivo web server tivo provides) and then the Tivo goes unresponsive. After a few hours, I can still TCP connect to port 80 and port 443 but the web server never responds. In order to transfer recordings, I have to reboot the Tivo.

Has anybody seen this?

BTW, I realize that this is a question about an unhacked Tivo and this site cators more to hacked Tivos but I have also found that the people here are a bit smarter than those on tivocommunity. I apologize in advance if this was the wrong place to post this question.

Wierd. I hope it isn't some sort of memory failure.
Usually things which work and then don't work are heat related. Is the fan in the unit operating?

Is it possible for you to pull the hard drive, mount it in a linux PC, and copy the log files from /dev/hda9 ( "/var" ).

also soounds like maybe iptables or netfilter because as the machine is coming up b4 these kick in the net is up for 30 seconds or so.

To be clear, is this TiVo unit subscribed? If so, have you already gone to tivo.com and registered it to enable MRV and TTG? I also have an RS-TX20 and I know that the web interface does NOT work when using TiVo Basic.

Yes, the unit is subbed and MRV/TTG will work for about a day or two after I reboot. I don't think it's a netfilter issue because I can definitely connect to port 80 if I telnet to it. I would think that netfilter would either refuse the connection right away or just time out.

I just thought of something differeient tho.. I am using Galleon. Maybe it's sending some crap to the Tivo HTTP server that causes it to crash. I will try to shut off Galleon and reboot the Tivo then give a few days to see what happens. I will report back.

Thanks

BTW, The unit is hacked with a larger 300GB drive but I have not chipped it yet so all the software is stock Tivo.

Interesting...

Please do let us know what you find in regards to Galleon.

I have also seen this sometimes on mine if the tivo goes offline for a while ie a switch is done or the wireless is not down it doesn't connect till I reboot all the switches in my net or reboot the tivo... could something like that be going on
