I have a DirecTivo Series 2 and trying to get TyTools running on it.

I have tried (2) versions of TyTools (9r18 and 10r14) and get the same error. I start the TyServer and get the followig script:

Telneting to the TIVO...
Connecting to '192.168.1.199'
Connected...
We got 'Theater Room-bash# ' which is the prompt!
Theater Room-bash# /var/hack/tserver_mfs -s /var/hack/NowShowing.tcl
bash: /var/hack/tserver_mfs: No such file or directory
Theater Room-bash#
Theater Room-bash#

I then try to REFRESH for the guide data and get the following error:

ERROR: Failed to Connect!

I am totaly new on this so there is probably a lot of info you need so just let me know or if there is another thread that address this, please point me there.

Thanks, Bill

you're using an old version of tserver and it doesn't require nowshowing.tcl
get tserver from the mfs_unified tools and use it instead.

did it work in the past? if so, I would think the var got wiped removing your hack directory and everything in it.

It worked in the past before I update the software to 6.3, I was on the 3.1.5 and can not get this to work with 6.3c. I really wanted to take advantage of the FILES that 6.3 supportsbut not at the expense of extraction.

Did you look to see if the files are still on the Tivo? Chances are the /var directory got wiped and you lost them. Try uploading the correct version of tserver to a new directory (hint: put it someplace other than /var), make it executable, and run it. You should be able to connect after doing that.

Guys, thank you very much for your quick replies, I really appreciate it. I will do some digging to find the correct tserver files/tools and let you know how it goes. I will look for these files in the forum "FILES - All TiVo & DTiVo Files".

Thanks again, Bill

I uploaded the tserver I found with TyTool 10r4 (using FTP). I put it into a new directory called "myfirst" and then changed the server string inside of TyTool to "myfirst/tserver". I keep getting the following error when trying to Start Server: "Theater Room-bash# myfirst/tserver
bash: myfirst/tserver: No such file or directory"
I know that is the correct directory that I put tserver into. The good news is that I can see the Now Showing data (in tytools) if I telnet into my Tivo change to the "myfirst" directory and type "tserver". I just can not get this to work off of TyTools directly. I saw another post about putting a "#" in the server shell but not sure where to put this I tried it and it did get rid of the command or directory not found error but I still could not pull the guide data through TyTools. Any ideas?

Did some more searching and found I needed to put the "#" at the end of my server shell prompt string (in the server properties, see attached) and now I am able to view the Now Showing Data from TyTools. Thanks again for the help.
