I have a dual 300GB Networked DirecTivo running version 3.5.x that I purchased from DigitalRecorder.com. They are not very helpful with their support for this unit and I would like to upgrade this through DVRUpgrade.com's CD that they sell. I would like to save my "Now Showing" programs prior to upgrade.

Here's the situation: I can connect to my unit and "Get" my .TY files through TYTools.

However:
1.) I cannot play the .ty file through Windows Media Player even though the codec is installed.
2.) TYStudio cannot read the .ty files or connect to the Tivo even though TYTools does connect.
3.) TYTools does not convert my .ty to mpg (It creates about a 3k Mpeg file from the .ty file that won't play)
4.) The Ty2mpeg.exe utility will not convert them.

I would like to know this:
1.) How can I convert these to playable mpegs?
2.) What Software do I need to upgrade my TIVO and will I Need to remove my drives from the unit?

I've been trying for weeks now with no luck, so, Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:) Thanks!
