View Full Version : Cannot Change channels on Directv Tivo HDVR2
I just got a new access card and was ready to setup my HDVR2 for Directv and I am unable to change the channels via remote. I can use the buttons on the front of the tivo to get to the guide to change channels and menu's but cant do anything with the remote. I even tried the remotes from my other 2 HDVR2's and they wont work with this tivo either. I am thinking this might be a IR sensor problem in the front panel. Does anyone know if the "2 Head IR Blaster" from Weaknees might be able to resolve the problem or am I just screwed.
Thanks for any help,
DIDS

I doubt the access card has anything to do with it, but you are correct, it sounds like an IR sensor problem. As for the WeaKnees product you mentioned, I would contact (http://www.weaknees.com/contact.php) them about it. They should know if it would work with your problem (or not), they're usually straightforward.
I hope you can get it solved. :)
Thanks for the reply skinnyJM. I think I discovered what the problem was. I must have somehow accidentally knocked the white ribbon so it was not fully seated. That appears to have killed the L30 inductor on the motherboard. I am going to try to desolder the L30 inductor and solder a wire in place to short out L30.
Thanks,

I had one with this problem as well. No need to desolder L30, you can either wire across it, or put a dab of solder across it in place.

I actually just soldered a wire across it without removing the inductor. It works great now.
