I have an HR10-250 running 6.3c and want to save my recordings. The original has a pretty full hard drive. I am upgrading to a
Seagate 750GB drive. It has been running MFSTools for 30 hrs now and is only at 4%. How long should this take? Does the number of video streams affect copy time?
Using command:
mfsrbackup -Tao -/dev/hdc | mfsrestore -r 4 -s 127 -xzpi - /dev/hda
Is there a better command line to use that still copies my shows?

I'd suggest minor changes to the command, but that wouldn't boost speed. Of greater value is enabling dma on both ide channels. IIRC, the mfslive cd (http://www.mfslive.org/) does this by default; most others do not.

Ultimately I would like to have two seagate 750gig drives in my hr-10-250.
I dont really care about saving any of my recordings.
This is the procedure that I plan to take, can anyone tell me if this looks right or wrong or any tips to make it go better and avoid trouble?
Currently have:
hacked tivo with 1 WD 250 gig drive, ftp, telnet, encryption disable, and system software of 3.5.1f (planning to stay with it).
Step 1: back up the 250 gig drive with mfstools to a "tivo.bak" file on a pc with the lba 48 boot cd.
Step 2: take the 250 out of the picture. Insert 1 750gb drive.
Step 3: mfsrestore the tivo.bak to the 750gb drive.
Step 4: put it into the tivo, and boot it up as a single drive.
Step 5: Go into system info, and check the size. (should be greater then 60 hours of hd).
Step 6. Pull the drive and put it back into the pc.
Step 7. Hook up the 2nd 750gb drive and do mfsadd.
Step 8. Pull both drives and put back into tivo.
Step 9. Confrim size is now greater then before.
Dose this seem right?
Will the hd tivo support that much space?

Step 3: mfsrestore the tivo.bak to the 750gb drive.I assume that you will also expand the drive as part of this restore, but depending upon the version of MFSTools you use, you'll want to use the "-r 4" option as you'll been initializing a partition greater than ~274GB. Also, I assume that you will expand your swap to something sensible (127 or perhaps larger).
Step 7. Hook up the 2nd 750gb drive and do mfsadd.Again, same consideration of the "-r 4" flag for this expand operation.
Will the hd tivo support that much space?I believe so, though I don't know if many folks have run 3.1.5f on dual 750GB drives.

Kinda off topic, but is there enough good reasons to upgrade to the newest software? Are all the echo patch commands documented for auto-sort, dissable decryption, and are there extraction/insertion issues?
