I have used TyTools to pull a show off my Tivo. I went through and removed the commercials and exported to and MPG file. When I view the show the top of the video image has a slim white bar that flickers a lot. Does anyone know what might cause this and is there a fix? Are TyTools still the best program to pull shows off the Tivo and create files that can be burned to DVD?

Thanks,

That is the closed captioning. There's no way to remove it that I'm aware of short of decoding and reencoding the video.

I thought closed captioning would appear at the bottom of the screen, not the top. I can send you a link to a sample if you want.

Are there other programs out there besides TyTools which do this? Are they any better?

Thanks,

Mike

If you take that MPG file, and run it through AVI.net (or something similar), you can crop the top to remove the visible VBI data. As Jamie says, it's not a TyTools issue, it's always there, normally it's hidden by the TV's overscan.
