Hello all,
I searched for a while for this and wasn't able to come up with the answer. When I first re-imaged the drive with InstantCake, I noticed that the Tivo registered in my DNS as ptvupgradetivo or something like that. Now that name has gone away.
Where do I set the hostname so that it will register this name with the DHCP ip that it gets from the DHCP server? I read somewhere that editing the /etc/hosts file is not the thing to do since it gets updated at boot time.
Anyone have any tips for me? I'd like to be able to connect to my Tivo via name instead of IP all the time.
Btw, DNS resolution fully works on the Tivo itself. I can ping machines by name outside my network without a problem.
Thanks,
-Allistah
