New lens for Thomson did not help.

Hello!
I got Xbox which does not read discs. It has Thomson DVD drive.
I bought a new laser lens assy on eBay for this drive.
I received the lens ontime and installed it, but my Thomson DVD-Rom still reads only music CDs, and gives me an error when loading DVD or game. Game disk has no scratches. My question is, whether new lens always solve the problem, or what should I do?

Sounds like a problem I had with my PS2. The laser control chip itself burned out during a bad mod.

It could also be the 'new' laser you got from fleaBay also has a bad DVD laser. Or, it isn' focused properly. DVD drives have one red (for CD's) and one bluish laser (for DVD's) inside the mechanism, which can each fail seperately.

Personally, I'd recommend a whole new replacement drive. It's easier and far more likely to work.
