I have been looking into my best option for storing shows onto my computer (likely network storage device in this case) from my series II dtv tivo, but have been having trouble dissecting the differences between mfs_ftp and tytool. I do not need to put them on dvd...I pretty much have hundreds of hours of recordings that I would like to store (stuff that is not on the tivo yet, so scrambling issues aren't a problem) for about nine months and then watch from the storage device on either the tv through the tivo or on the computer. After that, I'm done with them. Am I barking up the wrong tree with tytools or mfs_ftp, since they tend to be more based around dvd creation? Since long-term storage is not neccesary for me, is there something else that is an option that I'm missing, besides loading the unit with a couple 500gb drives?
Thanks and, per usual, sorry for the newbie questions.
Seems to me ETivo (http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34314) is what you need. You'll still need to install mfs_ftp though.

Thanks...that looks very promising. What about an over-the-counter tivo adapter? Would that work on a dtv unit once it is zippered? Despite the price, that just seems so much easier.
