I tried searching the forums for 4 days for the answer to this problem, maybe i just used the wrong search terms. anyway, i've recorded a couple of HD shows that are longer than 4 hours (concerts) and when i highlite the fsid's (get parts) and extract,i get part of the show, but not all the way to the end. (even though the last fsid is in the extraction list. this happens weather i download the entire list (get) or just parts (get parts) it's like the directivo stopped writing fsid's for the end of the show. (i always get the beginning of the show but the end is missing, even though i can playback the entire show thru the directivo). Yes i'm a linux newbie and yes this is a ptvupgrade product, but i'm fairly comfortable with hacking consumer electronics, i've hacked at least 7 series 1 directivo's for friends, so this problem is annoying me.It may have already been addressed but i used the wrong search terms. If thats the case please forgive me.

I believe there is a limit on the size of the show you can extract on a HDTivo. I had the same problem with one of the LOTR movies aired on TNT-HD back during the Christmas holidays where it stopped listing FSIDs once it hit the size limit. The entire movie was present on the HDTivo, but I just couldn't extract all of it. I didn't try using mfs_ftp to see if I could get the rest of the movie off the HDTivo but I'm not sure it would have made any difference. I got into the habit of splitting up any movies by setting up the recordings manually and rexcording it in two parts for anything that exceeeded about 2-1/2 hours.

I would definitely give mfs_ftp or TySuiteJ a shot. They both select the entire stream instead of the parts. tserver only has a limited 1024 byte buffer for the command stream. I don't know the limits on the TyTool side. mfs_ftp and TySuiteJ don't suffer from this affliction.
Either that or you'll have to beg Jamie/jdiner for a fix. :)

I have the exact same issue with some very large files on my HR10-250. Basically I'm waiting to see if an update ever comes for Tytool, as I can't get these files to extract via TySuiteJ as they were recorded before my Tivo was hacked.
I haven't tried MFS_FTP yet though. Please let us know if it works for you.

Neither mfs_ftp nor TySuiteJ support encrypted extraction. The only thing I have left is to try getting half the parts (via get parts) and combining them together (this is going to be a PITA) and running them through TySuiteJ or TyToMpg
Extracting HD recordings with mfs_ftp has been working all along. Then a simple tytompg step and you're all done.
If you're having trouble extracting large files, it is likely a problem with your desktop filesystem type or ftp client. If you're using FAT32 filesystems, you'll be limited to 4GB files - use NTFS filesystems instead. Linux ext2/ext3 filesystems and the stock linux ftp client handle large files without a problem.

bcc: the file system has been ntfs all along so thats not the issue.
it's when the tivo stops listing fsid's for the program, that extraction becomes partial. i'm in the middle of trying tysuiteJ to see if it can grab these huge files (47 and 52 gig- 8 and 9 hours of live earth ) if not from now on i'll have to break up the future recordings into 3 hour recordings.
thanks to everyone who replied for your knowlege and help!

As far as I know, the only limit on the number of file parts comes from tytools. You should be able to extract files with any number of file parts with mfs_ftp or mfs_uberexport/vserver.

Neither mfs_ftp nor TySuiteJ support encrypted extraction. ...You are talking about s2_unscramble (http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39207), right? I believe it does work with mfs_ftp, using a custom patched mfs_export in conjunction with a custom kernel. I can't remember what TySuiteJ uses for extraction (mfs_ftp?), but I would think it could be adapted too without much effort.

I don't use mfs_ftp, but the code is pretty close. I use mfs_uberexport, but it wouldn't be hard to change.

I'm reluctant to put it into the sourceforge CVS though. Given that it is designed to unscramble protected content, there may be legal implications, and I don't want to go there.
In looking at the mfs_uberexport code, it seems that I did hardcode the max number of parts to 1024. I doubt that limit is being reached, but if it is, it could be bumped up easily.

If you guys could pull this off, I would forever be in your debt.
I have three 4 hour Hockey games from over a year and a half ago that are just eating up space on my Tivo.
Anything that could be done for this issue would be fantastic.
If you guys could pull this off, I would forever be in your debt. If you just extract with mfs_ftp, you should be good to go already. No need to wait for some new fix.

I've been having issues getting mfs_ftp running on my HR10-250 and have put it off as a result.
