How long before Tivo releases kernel sources for the THD?

Like the title says, how long is too long? I have been brushing up on kernel compilation, going over Jamie's toolchain and kernel build scripts (which need a little updating because of changes to the Tivo download site) and it has become obvious that I won't be able to do much with the TivoHD until they release that source. What recourse does the public have?

What recourse does the public have?They don't have to release the source until someone who received a kernel from them asks. It should have been accompanied by a written offer for source, if they are complying with the GPL. Probably buried somewhere in the stuff that came with your tivohd. Follow the instructions to request the kernel source.

There's a thread over at TCF [link (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=334919)] where people have requested source before and TiVo employees have responded. No guarantees, but it might bring it to someones attention there and get a response.
