i have a Hughes SD-DVR40 and I want to
1. install a larger drive
2. enable the usb

q1.
I am wondering if there is better software for the Hughes SD-DVR40 that I can use or should I stick with what it came with.

q2.
When setting up the new drive an article talks about fat32 filesystem. Arethere any issues if I use norton ghost on a ntfs computer?

q3.
Can I load/unload movies onto the Tivo drive through the usb port?

q4.
Can I load sagetv for Windows xp onto this system? And Windows?

Thanks for the help.

I'll take a stab at this.

q1.

It probably would've helped if you would mention what version of Tivo software it is currently running, but I would think that ideally you're going to want to run 6.2a (or possibly 6.3e). And then it will be necessary to load the appropriate killhdintrd'd kernel, disable the Tivo's firewall, enable telnet and ftp, and install some other software on the Tivo.

q2.

Do not use Norton Ghost or any other commercial product to copy the drive. Go to mfslive.org and grab either the linux boot CD or WinMFS.

q3.
Can I load/unload movies onto the Tivo drive through the usb port?

Yes, once it is properly hacked.

q4.
Can I load sagetv for Windows xp onto this system? And Windows?

Hell no.
