I'm using Tytools to transfer something from my HDVR2 to my PC. I've been able to do this without any problems when I've downloaded stuff before, but every time I attempt to download this one particular recording, I get this message about 3/4 of the way into the recording:

ERROR: Tried to write 131072 bytes to disk and wrote -- 1 instead!!!

It's a large file, but that shouldn't be an issue, because I've downloaded 15-inning baseball games (nearly 6GB!) with no errors. This file in question is around 5.3GB, FWIW.

The actual size of the program doesn't matter, it's the number of fsid's it has. Try another method, tytool hasn't been updated in a while and has a few outstanding bugs. TySuite J has never given me any trouble, and it uses mfs_uberexport so there is no fsid limiter.

OK. I'm not too familiar w/ TySuite. How easy is it for someone like me who doesn't download this stuff that often, then edit it and burn it to a DVD? ;)

Make sure mfs_uberexport is on your PATH, ftp over a tcl file from the tysuite package, and set up your config file. After that, it's as easy to use as tytool for grabbing ty's or mpg's. You could probably still use tytool for editing and dvd burning after you have a suitable mpg.

OK, thanks.
