View Full Version : How do I get 9.1 Update onto 2nd Tivo

I have 2 Tivos, both SD-H400
1) Subscribed
2) Unsubscribed

I have got latest 9.1 update for Tivo 1 but Tivo 2 has not got the update yet.

Is there any way I can get 9.1 onto 2nd one? I would like to keep them both synced up.

I am not sure but I have the whole /var/package directory backed up while Tivo 1 was busy downloading the SwUpdate 15-20 days back.

Which files will I need to get to Tivo 2 upgraded to 9.1 from Tivo 1 and what do I do to update the same.

Can you put the drive from the unsub unit in the sub unit until it upgrades?

You could backup/restore an image from one to the other, losing recordings/settings of course. Or if you can capture slices, you could just copy slices from one to other and upgrade that way. My unsubbed SD-H400 got the update so I don't see why yours wouldn't get it at some point if you let connect home.

I do have it call home (via Wire Ethernet) but so far it did not get the update.

And I do believe I have the upgrade slices captured.

What I do Not know is which files are related with upgrade and which files are specific to my subbed unit.

I am concerned that if I import all files, the tivo mothership may disable my unsubbed unit (as well as subbed unit), is that possible? Someone who has done such a think please let me know If I can just import everything I captured (upgrade slice files plus other stuff)

I do not want to do restore and loose all my recordings so far.

How about listing the files you captured? It's been a while since I did that (and on a DirecTiVo to boot), but I think I can still pick out those that are not needed.
