Guys, I think I screwed up pretty badly. I have an HR10-250 with 6.3e software running. I was trying to get the encryption to work but kept getting that need a "virgin tivoapp". I tried deleting the one that was in there and moving (via ftp) a virgin one back in but kept getting an "out of memory error". After numerous attemts to get this "tivoapp" file back into my tivo, I finally gave up and rebooted, now of course it has stopped working. Can you please point me or tell me what is the best way to get this file back into my Tivo? I have removed the hard drives and they are connected to my PC via ATA 133 channels. I do not have a serial port on my pc but do have a USB to Serial but never tried that. Any ideas on where to start?
Thanks, Bill

Boot from one of the linux CD's that will let you easily read the A drive. MFSLive for example works well. Then mount the correct partition and copy the file over.
I assume the "out of memory" error was from your FTP application? Did you remember to set the partition for WRITE access before trying to send the file over?

Ciper, thanks for the quick reply.
Sorry to be new at this. I just burned and ISO of MFSLive and will boot from it.
When you say read the A drive, are you talking about the Tivo drive?
Do I connect via the ATA 133 PCI or through the serial cable?
Also, since I am in linux after I boot, what is the best way to get my file copied over? Do I put "tivoapp" on a disc in my disc drive or put it on a memory stick?
The out of memory was on my FTP, it would move about 99% of the file over and then get the out of memory error. The first time I moved it I think I forgot to go into Binary mode, maybe that chewed up the space?
Thanks, Bill

A drive refers to the first drive in the Tivo. No need to connect both drives in this case
Connect the Tivo hard drive directly to the computer. Serial cable? I dont understand what you mean by serial cable
I suggest using a USB stick with a copy of the file since mfslive can use them.
I dont know how big the Tivoapp is but be aware the partitions have very little space (128mb IIRC)

Something to remember in this case is that Superpatch makes a backup copy of tivoapp before patching it. All you would have to do is restore the backup.
