hughes/rca conversions to fta(proof for directivo to pick up dvb-s?)

I was wondering if someone would comment on the technical possibility of converting a directivo to pick up dvb-s broadcasts?

I always thought this was technically impossible, then I heard of the rca/hughes conversions to use the pansat bin files, converting them to fta receivers. Does that mean that through some software modifications we could receive dvb-s on a directivo unit? Anyone ever thought of this?
