I have searched and read throught about 30 pages of posts.. I tried two different methods

1. nuke_deleted.tcl which just marks the clips as rubisshed but they still never get removed.. (guess garbage collection skips them)

and

2. muking with the partition table with jamies mkDiskConfig.tcl which ran fine no issues but the space is still being used..

ie

this is on a hacked tivo 6.2a

any ideas anyone thanks it is taking up on my box about 10% of disk space..

other than the obvious reimage and loose all recordings...

thanks again

It doesn't matter. The tivo clips are recorded in "reserved" space that's never available for user recordings.

My understand is the "supersize" option (WinMFS) works by reducing the size of the reserved space. I'm not sure if you can supersize a drive after you've expanded the drive. I'd check on the mfslive forums. I think the reserved space is normally a percentage of the drive, larger drives don't necessarily need larger reserved space areas.

I believe that the mfslive "supersize" option deactivates the disk configuration object, while mkdiskconfig.tcl lets you alter it instead. Modifying the object is more flexible than deactivating it, since it gives you explicit control over the reserved space.

I'd check IDB_MFS_TOTCLIPS and IDB_MFS_AVAILCLIPS to be sure they are set the way you want them. Then I'd rubbish everything in /Clips. /Showcase and /MenuItem, as suggested by ADH here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=203919#post203919). You might also need to let it make daily calls to the tivo mothership for a while until the space is cleaned up.
