I've done a little searching and I have a list of questions about S3. If anybody could answer any of them that would be great.

1. Does S3 use MFS? Is the directory/object structure the same?
2. What's the CPU MIPS?
3. Do the S1&S2 tools like mfs_uberexport work on S3?

Thanks.

I have a TivoHD if that counts as a S3.

1. Does S3 use MFS? Is the directory/object structure the same?

Yes, the TivoHD (and Series 3) still uses MFS. And the directory/object structure is essentially the same, barring the usual minor differences between software versions.

2. What's the CPU MIPS?

If you're asking "Does it use a MIPS CPU?" then the answer is yes.

3. Do the S1&S2 tools like mfs_uberexport work on S3?

This is where the answers will be different depending on whether you're talking about a real "Series 3" and a TivoHD - I believe the more-expensive "Series 3" will work with the same mfs tools that work with the S1&S2 boxes, but the TivoHD uses a newer 64-bit MFS structure which is not compatible with the S1&S2 mfs tools. Fortunately, Jamie has posted a version of his mfs tools that WILL work with the TivoHD here (http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?p=290822&postcount=10).

So, the short answer is still yes.

Hope that helps,
