My Series 1 (Sony) has had a good run, but I finally removed the drive to use in other applications. (The Series 3 is going strong in its stead.) Now I have a fine case of a Series 1 that's in good working order, except it has no hard drive. The subscription is expired, naturally. Is there a "market" for this? Not that I want to sell it, but I'd like to avoid sending it to a landfill. If nothing else, I can Freecycle it or simply recycle the metal.
Suggestions?

If no one else wants it I wouldn't mind to have it for spair parts. I have a Sony thats still running strong (with 700gb of space). Do you still have the remote?

I should be honest and say that I really want the remote for a specific reason. The Sony Tivo remotes are actually programmable fully customizable universal remotes in disguise. With a little soldering you can create a programming interface.
I also prefer the Sony remote considerably over the peanut. There was a long thread on the other forum where I argued how much I hate the peanut. My plan was to take your Tivo for spare parts (since I still use a sony myself) and reprogram the remote to control my Tivo HD!
Alkap: How about this. You take the Tivo box and Ill take the remote. You can install any of the regular Tivo software on it to make it work with the standard Tivo remotes. Even the new Glo Remote or Tivo HD remote would work with it then.

Thats great, I do not use TIVO remotes anyway, I use universal programmable offa in extender mode, way more powerful than anything.
I can use the tivo to do some experimental work, great if it works out.
We still need to know if it is availablr.
